Timer

When you are starting off, this is what the Timer box looks like. The
timer is designed to make it easy for you to clock your time on a certian task.
In order to get anywhere, first, you have to select a task.

When you select a task, then the "Start Timer" button will pop up, just like the
image above. Now, let's say we are ready to start working on something.
Click on "Start Timer.

Notice that "Status" changed to "Started" and "Working On" now shows what
you are working on. You can close the browser and restart the computer and
then log in again, if you want. It will still keep time for you. The
"Description" gets autofilled by what ever the task description was. You
probably will want to change this, especially if you are planning on invoicing
customers from this information later. This "Description" is what your
customers will see for this line item on their invoice.
Notice the new buttons. Elapsed Hours updates from a periodic postback to
the server (someday I hope to rewrite this with javascript, just haven't gotten
to it yet). You can force that postback with the "Refresh" button,
although you probably won't ever need to. If you want to stop the clock
for lunch, click "Stop."

"Status" changes to "Stopped" and you have a new "Start" button which you can
click when you get back from lunch. "Cancel" resets back to "Reset" status
(see the image back at the top). Once you are done working on a task, you
can click "Write To Timesheet" whcih will literally write the time to the task
you were working on and resetting the timer.
You can always tweak the "Elapsed Hours" directly yourself. This is
particularly helpful if you forgot to start keeping time on a task or if you
already worked on a task when you were away from the computer and you just want
to make a quick timesheet entry into a task.
